For the past 23 years, State Farm Insurance company has paved the way to improve roads across America. The State Farm Dangerous Intersection initiative began in 1998, as a form of public service.

Their drive to improve intersection safety is aligned with the words of our Lord, “Where there is no guidance, a people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety” (English Standard Versions, 2001/2021, Proverbs 11:14).

With each expansion of their nationwide campaign, they expanded safety awareness and intersection conditions (Schindler,2019). Concepts and

Constructs of State Farm’s Study:

In 2002, State Farm launched its first post-improvement evaluation study. With a purpose to track the success of the Dangerous Intersection program and to gain a deeper understanding of the dangerous intersections’ characteristics. The concepts and constructs involved in their study were intertwined.

Markus (2008) also explained that concepts extend over both actual and possible cases, whereas the constructs of this trial extend over actual cases and constructs.The concepts of accidents by number, severity of personal injury, cost of the property damage, and road volume are categorized within the construct of safety.

The concepts of intersection geometry or physical layout, and location of traffic signals form the construct of geographic issues. Within the construct of behavioral issues are the concepts of driver behavior, and environmental sounds.

The final construct of road improvements includes the concepts of short-term, intermediate term and long-term improvements.

Hypothesis to Drive City-Specific Research:

The transportation engineers whose intersections were identifiedwithin the top 10 most dangerous intersections were faced with a daunting task.

Immediate improvements for the intersections within their remit was demanded by the public. The probability of implementing improvementsat intersections will reduce the number of accidents at that intersection, could be used to drive a city-specific research study.

Which coincides to the hypothesis used by other researchers in their transportation experiment toimprove road safety through appropriate cargo securing using outliers (Vikovsky et al., 2021).

Evaluation of State Farm Methodology:

In the State Farm post- improvement evaluation study, multiple research methodologies were deployed. To find solutions for the dangerous intersections and obtain desired intersection traits to model after, qualitative and quantitative applied research strategies were utilized. For
