Initial Computer Setup and Facebook Lockdown Robert Youmans CMIS 111 6384 October 16, 2016

Years ago I designed my first gaming computer. Today, I am finally going to build it with my son. I want to teach him everything I know about both computers themselves, but also security needed to make them secure from unwelcome perpetrators.
We are very excited. We headed into Micro Center to obtain all the pieces to complete this project.
The computer consisted of Intel Core i5-6600K processor, MSI Z170A Gaming M5 motherboard, Corsair Hydro H100i V2 Liquid CPU Cooler, Corsair Vengeance Series 16GB ram, MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming Video Card, EVGA SuperNova GS 650W Power Supply, Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 Mid-Tower, LG UH12NS40 12X Drive, Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB SATA Drive, and a Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB SATA Drive.
The total came out to $1,489.56. Once we got home, we started to build the machine. It was a great experience explaining what each part of the computer did to my kid. Once it was completed, we had to start the install of the OS. I chose Windows 10 Pro, because it best for gaming as of right now and it well secure OS.
The installation of an OS takes some time. Once the OS installation was completed, it was time to play with the computer. I told my son that of the first things to do is to create an admin account and to implement a very secure password. This helps prevent any unwanted perpetrator from access the computer physically.
Some characteristics of a secure password is at least 8 characters or more, a mixture of both uppercase and lowercase letters, mixture of letters and numbers, and at least one special character. The reason for strong passwords is
because it determines if a perpetrator can break it or not.
The list of techniques increases each year as technology advances. Example for this is if you had a password of 1234. Since the length of the password is 4 and it only uses numbers than it would take a perpetrator .001 seconds to crack the password using brute force.
Now if you have a least 8-character password with mixed characters, this would take them 6.3 centuries to crack the password. That is a secure password. Once my password was complete, I want to make sure my home network was secure. My personal router is top of line or at least in the top 10 of recommended networking routers for home use. Also
