The act of contemplating what makes a person who they are is a seemingly simple task.  You know better than anyone else what your favorite foods, colors, activities, and interests are. However, understanding why we like the things we do and how we became the way we are today is a more complex task.
  The psychology, neuroscience, art and literature that has been passed down and taught to us all join to create the person we are.   By using the teachings of Linden, Hock, and Freeland to dissect the inner workings of my personality, I have created, withthe help of my four sister’s artistic abilities, a portrait that represents my individuality.
One of the most prominent features that truly make me who I am is the fact that I am more right-brained than left.  This is described in Roger R. Hock’s book Forty Studies that changed Psychology: Explorations into the History of Psychological Research. 
 In Gazzaniga’s study “One Brain or Two?” he describes how the two sides of the brain preform different functions.  The left side deals with more analytical and logical matters, whereas the right side is involved in artistic, creative, and spatial relationships (Hock 1-2).  
As a person who is typically suffering while learning anything in the mathematic realm and thrives in a creative environment,it seemed obvious that I am primarily right-brained.
I asked my twenty-two-year-old sister   Chelsea to draw her own interpretation of how she sees me and to complete her portrait by depicting my right-brained predisposition.  
She took it upon herself to draw me as a tree with roots underneath me and full branches with leaves above me. The tree resembles my brain and
the inner roots that ground me.  
On the right side of the tree are dispersed music notes, which show my love for music and the arts.Another hugely important aspect of my personality is my belief in the internal locus of control.  Explained by Rotter in his study “Are You the Master of Your Own Fate?” a person’s locus of control can either be internal or external. 
 When someone has an external locus of control they believe that fate or luck factors control what happens to them in life.  An internal locus of control means that the person is in control of their own life through their actions and beliefs (Hock 189). 
 I requested that my fourteen-year-old sister Kailyn draw her interpretation of me while including a symbol of internal locus of control.  She drew her own interpretation of my face with my eyes portrayed as the earth.  This symbolizes how I am control of my own
