Project Proposal (Part I)

For my community research project, I would like to focus on the Icelandic community (as defined regionally by the country’s borders). I would also be willing to hone in on a more specific sub-community within or related to this preliminary one.

For example, I might find sufficient research for the project centering on the community involved in the pagan religion of Ásatrúarfélagið. In any way that the project develops, however, I would like to focus on a community in Iceland, which, due to its relatively small geographic size and population, will be sufficiently distinct and distant.

Any sub-community in Iceland, if I do choose to explore one, will most likely also parallel a significant portion of the “ways” of the Icelandic community as a whole.

I first became interested in Iceland when I would come across photos of its landscape and architecture on the Internet and in books. The island’s geographic
