My Reflections on Early Childhood Education

Upon entering ECE 101, I thought I wanted to become an early childhood education teacher. As this course comes to a close I know with great confidence that I definitely want to become an educator in the early childhood education field.

My interviewee provided me with some great insight about this field as well as a typical day for her and the children. Listening to her closely one key element I gathered from our interview was that not everyone is meant to be aprofessional in this field.

My Reflections on Early Childhood Education

Upon entering ECE 101, I thought I wanted to become an early childhood education teacher. As this course comes to a close I know with great confidence that I definitely want to become an educator in the early childhood education field.

My interviewee provided me with some great insight about this field as well as a typical day for her and the children. Listening to her closely one key element I gathered from our interview was that not everyone is meant to be aprofessional in this field.

It takes a special kind of person with great love for both the children and the field to be successful. As I reflect on the interview I conducted earlier in this course, I discovered that a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education is a requirement to be considered for a teacher’s position in the public school systems.

Teachers are required to attend professional development courses prior to the new school year starting as well as a couple online courses during the school year.

Kindergarten students have very busy school days with reviewing skills, at learning centerslearning new skills, splitting up into small groups for reading as well as, singing and other activities all before lunch.

I also gathered that children are tested a lot so much that both students and teachers are stressed by all the testing. Not every child tests well and some of the children get bored with the tests. Some children do not apply their knowledge on the tests and they will just mark any answer just to complete the tests.

So, the results of the tests do not always reflect the child’s knowledge.Communication with all of the parents is very important. Teachers should take different avenues to keep parents informed and involved.

Parental involvement is essential and parents should not just be called when there is a problem with behavior or learning, but also when the child does well
