Marketing is first and foremost a philosophy. A philosophy that focuses on customer satisfaction (Lamb, Hair, & McDaniel, 2014).

The formal definition of marketing is concerned with the second facet of marketing which is an organization function that creates, communicates,delivers, and exchanges offerings that have value to customers (Lamb, Hair, & McDaniel, 2014).

Geoffrey B. Small Co. is a fashion company that has been designing clothes for 75 collections (Cengage Learning, 2014). He started small selling jeans in a small store and now creates fashions in Italy to show in Paris (Cengage Learning, 2014). Geoffrey B. Small is the perfect example of the first facet of marketing.

He doesn’t use the word marketing but his strategy of providing what the customer will want and value embodies the philosophy of marketing.Geoffrey B. Small actively embodies the marketing concept by delivering a quality and lasting product that is in demand by his customers.

He has created a brand that does more than produce fashion, they also are concerned with the environment (Cengage Learning, 2014).
