1. Identify a theorist, summarize their theory, and explain the aspects of that theory that relate to
the biological perspective.
[Sigmund Freud believed that everyone is born with biological instincts that fuel our behavior
“and that is channeled in new directions over the course of human development” (Sigelman &
Rider, 2018). Meaning that humans unconsciously behave in certain ways based on the creatures
(humans) we are and from the people who created us.]
2. Provide an example of how this biological perspective of life-span development applies to your
lived experience.
[This theory applies to my lived experiences by me being born with mental illness. My mother
has mental illness that run in her family and herself and that is something that I inherited from

being her child (being created from her).]

3. Identify a theorist, summarize their theory, and explain the aspects of that theory that relate to
the psychological perspective.
[Aaron Beck had a theory that one’s perception and thoughts influenced their emotions and
behavior. This means that if someone was having a negative thought about something that was
going to happen then when that situation arises the individual will behave negatively.]
4. Provide an example of how this psychological perspective of life-span development applies to
your lived experience.
[This psychological perspective applies to my life experiences because I am constantly believing
that most situations, I encounter will end up negatively. I then end up behaving not positive
when in the situation.]
5.Identify a theorist, summarize their theory, and explain the aspects of that theory that relate to
the social perspective.
[Erik Erikson’s had a theory that people everywhere experienced eight psychosocial stages that
are pushed by both biological maturation and social demands into the next stages. “For example,
the first conflict, trust verses mistrust, resolves around whether or not infants become able to
rely on other people to be responsive to their needs” (Sigelman & Rider, 2018).]

6. Provide an example of how this social perspective of life-span development applies to your lived

experience.
[This social perspective applies to my lived experiences by how I am mistrusting to others. Ever
since I could remember my parent’s never put mine and my siblings needs first, and it has
caused me to believe that I cannot trust/rely on anyone to truly help me.]
7. Describe why analyzing the life span from a combined biological, psychological, and social
perspective is important.
[To be able to grasp any idea of how people behave you HAVE to analyze the combined
biological, psychological, and social perspectives.
