This means that self-actualization occurs when a person’s ideal self is congruent with their actual behavior. Rogers describes an individual who is actualizing as a fully-functioning person. He also believes that the main determinant of whether one becomes self-actualized is childhood experience. (McLeod,1970) I believe there is a large amount of congruence between my actual and ideal selves. I am the same person whether I am with family, friends, or out in public. I do not change how I dress (other than what is appropriate for the occasion), I do not change my thought process, or how I feel about something. I do not appear one way for one group of people and another for another
group of people. I am constantly taking in experiences as they happen and learning new according to our personality.
