The first source, “Children’s Eat Attitudes and Behavior,” hopes to address the ways in which parents affect their eating habits and behavior. This source also attempted to test both the modeling and control and control theories of parental influence (Brown & Ogden, 2004). The purpose of this research was that Brown and Ogden, “aimed to explore the relationship between parents and children’s eating attitudes and behavior, and to assess and compare the modeling and control theories of parental influence (2004).” Brown and Ogden’s results from their research indicate that not only educating the parents on what to feed their children, but the parent’s diet itself should also be the focus of change (2004) This study suggests that “if parents can be encouraged to recognize that their own eating behavior is the most important source of information for theirs. To address the problem of childhood obesity, the overall goal of this action plan will be to get parents on board with new healthier lifestyles and choices and realize their children take after their parent’s eating habits and will adapt accordingly. Involving the whole family in adopting a healthy practice will improve the chances of it being a continual effect that the child may one day pass on the new lifestyle and eating habits to their children.

The first recommendation is to establish healthier eating habits with the parents. With the parents making the changes the child will be likely to pick up the new eating habits as children’s diets are affected by the types of food eaten by their parents (Brown & Ogden, 2004). I propose having the parents of the obese children attend a seminar 1 day a week for 2 months on healthy eating habits and how to incorporate them into the household. By providing the parents with the knowledge of how to prevent or correct bad. Childhood obesity is a continually growing problem worldwide but more specifically in the US itself. Childhood obesity itself comes along with many other detrimental effects such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. In youth under19, type 2 diabetes increased a whopping 31 percent from 2001 to 2009, according to the report (White, 2014). Having complications such as those from childhood obesity should be more directly addressed and a resolution brought into the mix of the children’s childhood. Childhood obesity is significant considering that overall, about 17 percent of children ages 2 to 19 are obese. When overweight children are added to the mix, the figure rises to 32 percent (White, 2014).
