Psychological ClaimHave you ever looked around and the children are acting extra “crazy,” or your grandparents are acting a little funnier than normal? How about yourself, have you ever noticed yourself going a little more overboard and then all of a sudden asked yourself, “Is there a full moon tonight?” As the myth goes, when there is a full moon people tend to act a little bit more out of the ordinary, primarily the elderly and possibly children. Your day may also seem to be a tad bit more insane than normal as well, but does having a full moon really make these things happen? According to the website, we should see a change in people’s behavior at least twelve times this year with two times already behind us. Research Question When looking into full moons and human behavior, can you say there is a true correlation? Does having a full moon really affect the way the elderly, children, and adults act? When I think about this topic in general those are the simple questions that I would like to see being answered; however, there has to be something more underlying or so one would think.

Research Question When looking into full moons and human behavior, can you say there is a true correlation? Does having a full moon really affect the way the elderly, children, and adults act? When I think about this topic in general those are the simple questions that I would like to see being answered; however, there has to be something more underlying or so one would think. Again, as the theory goes when there is a full moon people act differently than normal. So my question is, “Why and how?” Why does having a full moon cause human behavior? The term extrasensory perception (ESP) is defined as an awareness of the world that occurs through some other mechanism outside of the five known senses of sight, sound, touch, feeling, and taste such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition.

Research experiments on parapsychology began with Dr. J.B. Rhine in 1926. He and another psychologist, Dr. WilliamMcDougall, began focusing on developing new “scientific” methods for investigating paranormal phenomena. Over one million trials in 33 experiments were conducted and while Dr.Rhine firmly believed that several of his studies showed evidence for ESP in the research, there was no compelling evidence to support his claims; results were always rejected due to problems in the experimental process (James Randi Educational Foundation, 2012).
