Rachal_Rasberry_Personal_Philosophy_of_Nursing

Having a passion for taking care of others in their time of need has come from an exceedingly early age for me. At the age of 3, I would put broken plates back together after they were broken by my brothers and me. At the age of 6, I was using a sewing kit that belonged to my mom to put my doll’s arm back on. As a little girl, I would go to the nursing home in Mississippi with my mom, where she worked as a medication aide. I would push the little ladies around the halls with hopes that one day I would be taking care of them on my own. At the early age of 20, I was in the healthcare field; I was a CNA. I was taking care of the little ladies I used to dote over when I was young. I was where I belonged. I had a passion for the medical field. I always learned more about the patients I took care of so I could treat them better than the next person on shift. I yearned for this. I maintained my CNA for 7 years and decided to continue my education to pass medications. Needing more, I got my LVN in 2011, followed by my RN in 2020. Broad experience along the way has landed me in Medical-Surgical nursing as well as ICU care. I have a love for Hospice, and at the same time have a love for wanting more than assisting in the journey to the end of life.

Needing more, I got my LVN in 2011, followed by my RN in 2020. Broad experience along the way has landed me in Medical-Surgical nursing as well as ICU care. I have a love for Hospice and at the same time, a love for wanting more than assisting in the journey to the end of life. Choice of NursingNursing chose me for a career. Being a person that always wanted more out of life, it was easy to see why Nursing was the way to go. Science was always easy for me to understand while learning in the medical field. I was able to do CPR on my twin brother at the age of 12. During this time, I knew that I was going to do nothing else but be a nurse, come hell or high water. At the age of 17, my mom passed away and the ICU nurse was so cold and so heartless. This only strengthened my want for the field as I never wanted to have another family feel the same way I did when I was a child. Uneducated in the medical field, and I needed the nursing staff to help me understand what was happening; I needed that nurse to show compassion and heart; he did not. He was a nurse I never wanted to be and never will be. These adversities have made me a better person, a better mother, and a better nurse.
