This program is used by teachers and parents to help children reach their goals by using their strengths to create relationships and knowledge.Greenspan Floor time plan is personalized for each child. A child’s race, economic status,or gender is not used to base the child’s program on. It is important to understand where the child is coming from only to see how it relates to how the parents interact with the child. One important factor in a child’s development is the interaction within family and their home environment. A child’s environment can affect how they develop and learn.Floor time plan helps children on the autism spectrum and those with developmental delays. These developmental delays can include learning delays, physical delays, or genetic disorders such as Down’s Syndrome. The program does not focus on the child’s age but more on their emotional and cognitive abilities. A child who is 10 who is unable to identify his shapes will not be able to complete the same activities as a six-year-old who does know their shapes. The program is free or has a very low cost to families.
