After gathering all the information, I think the best way for me to go would be by using the correlational studies method. This is the most common study for a reason. The correlational studies approach concerns reliability. The tests must be reliable in order to detect important features of personality that overwise maybe have been overlooked. (Be sure to include the influence on personality). Karen Horney, an early feminist, agreed with Freud about how childhood helps shape a person’s personality. However, Freud believed that biological forces influenced personality development whileHorney focused more on the social aspects. Karen Horney also viewed that Freud’s idea of psychoanalysis “focused more on men’s development than on a woman’s” (Schultz & Schultz, 2013, p.139). She stated that the relationship between parent and child is the key factor in personality. Focusing on that aspect, she developed a theory about childhood need for safety. She felt that the safety need, which is “a higher level need for security and freedom from fear” (Schultz & Schultz, 2013, p. 142).
