The research design that will be utilized for this hypothetical study will be a correlational design. Correlational designs have both their strengths and weaknesses. Some limitations that may be of concern will be the response style on the questionnaires. This includes acquiescence and social desirability (Cervone & Pervin, 2019). The benefits of the correlational design that concern this study will be being able to uncover relationships between the variables, as well as utilize a larger sample size. The correlational research design is a great design to use for this study to learn the similarities and/or differences between the variables involved. Since this is not an experimental study, no variables will need to be manipulated.

Since Module 2, I have changed my research design and decided to utilize correlational design for this study since I am going to be looking at many variables. This may be hard to study with a case study and only doing extensive research on a few people, as opposed to many. I am now examining and going to administer the questionnaires to the parents to determine the type of attachment. I also have determined the age groups that need to be involved and that are able to give proper answers to the questionnaires that are going to begin. Along with the children who have experienced childhood trauma, I have also included a control group of those who have not experienced trauma at all.
